Property
Michel Bougeard is an experienced Conveyancing Manager within the Property Practice Group in Jersey. With over 36 year’s experience Michel has dealt with all manner of residential matters including development sites, nursing homes, hotels, commercial and shop premises, manor houses, farms, flying freehold apartments, first time buyer properties and normal residential houses, which have included (j) category purchases.
He has represented both lenders and borrowers with regard to residential mortgages and associated financial issues and, has also acted in a wide range of property transactions for financial and professional institutions and property developers.
Michel joined Bailhache & Bailhache, one of the predecessor firms of Appleby in 1983. Prior to this, he worked at the Autorisé de la Partie Publique (the predecessor of the Conveyancing Section of the current Law Officers Department) and Mourant du Feu & Jeune.
Michel is a former Vice Chairperson of the Jersey Association of Property Conveyancers and, as a result, played an active part in the consultation process relating to the change over of conveyancing documents into English. Whilst no longer Vice Chairperson, he is still an Executive Committee Member of the Association and, as such, is assisting in the consultation process regarding formal qualifications in conveyancing.
He is also a member of the Jersey Land Registry User Group and on a number of occasions, been appointed by the Royal Court to act as an "Expert" on issues relating to property and land disputes.
Michel is fluent in French.
